There are a few school boy errors, but it is at a very early stage at the momment. There is not much evidenance on WW1 tank colours, so I am going to the 3 tone colour like on the French Chars and make it German. As I have 8 figures painted to go with it. I will post soon. The figures are the ICM WW1.

Gary the originals at Bovington and from the few original paintings that I saw whilst serving over the road, the colour of those WW1 vehicles appears to have been green. Boring I know.

Hi Gary,
The tank looks great so far, keep us up to date on further progress.
Also, I'm no expert on WWI tanks but didn't the female just have MGs?
Cheers

Correct. That is a Mk VI Male. The female version was armed with only MGs.
Looks like it is coming along well. Keep us posted.

Very nicely done. Makes me think that it is time we had a WW1 armor campaign.

If you want to do a German version, you're in luck--Osprey just released an excellent little book on German tanks of WW1 with color drawings and marking details, covering both the A7V and the captured British Mk. IV's.

Your tank is definitely a Mark V and the Germans didn't hold onto any long enough to put them into service...
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Thanks for the info Dave, but i painted the tank the night before. But I did notice on the website you sent me that the Germans used black lines on their camo, so guys do you think that I should use the black lines to seperate the colours.
As you see I have painted the tank, not the authentic colours though, I have used a buff colour to tone down the colours.
After the transfers are on, should I filter the tank and put a wash on. Or just put on a wash and dry brush before weathering.
Here are the figures that I promised. They are from ICM manufacturers. The instructions said to paint them Field Grey, I think that maybe I should have painted them grey, as when I have seen most WW1 figures they are Grey.
Comments welcome

Hi Gary
Landships is good for uniforms too
WW1 Landsers
And to me, the cloud cammo you used doesn't look right without black outlines.

Hi Gary
Looking good, but I have to agree with Dave about the outlines on the cammo
Are you going to replace the tracks? as the kit ones are a bit s t
I replaced my Whippet tracks with resin ones from Accurate Armour
They do a set for the male/female from Emhar to
Cheers

this is about 90% done. Need to improve the exhaust and other bits and bobs.
Torchy you were right the tracks are crap and they also do not go all the way round, i had to cut up some of the spare ones to finish the track. I cannot afford to buy any more tracks, unfortunately
Its been filtered, oiled, the whethering mud is made from sand an pigments.
sorry abou the pic's they are crap, but I will post better ones soon.
any comments welcomed

It's certainly looking good Gary. More pics please!
I agree about the tracks I ended up with a 2 - 3mm gap at the bottom of mine which I'll just have to hide with mud.
I love the WW1 stuff. It's a pity there isn't more of it.

I heard this kit was a b*tch to build but you have done a great job!
I can't wait to see those figures added to the mix.
Cheers, Michael

Hi mate,
Started to build the "male version" last night and despite hearing some horror stories about Emhar, mine was built within a few hours with only minor problems.
I like the painting of the figures..would you recommend the figures from ICM?Are they comparable (dare i say it) with those of Dragon?
Cheers,Shay

Hi shay, I would say they are compatible with the dragon figures, but most probably not the tamiya ones. The ones I have as you can see are the ICm. I bough two boxes and on the second box I just changed the arms and legs round.

Nice work fella!! I have been asked to build a MkIV Male (Emhar) and recieved the kit earlier today. I also got the resin update set with tracks and guns.
I model aircraft normally and have never built a tank-there were no instructions with the Panzershop resin set (very annoying!)
A few questions:
Are the tracks easy to install? How?
What colours/types of green for a British tank?
What are the problems with the kit in terms of fitting/construction?
As I said, I am a total armour noob so be gentle please

Are the tracks in strips or individual links? Strips will need heat treatment (either hot water or a carefuly applied hair dryer) to get them to bend around the front horns and at the rear.
Mark IVs were probably a brownish colour, similar to the khaki uniforms worn by British soldiers.
Most of the joints on the Emhar models are iffy, so be prepared for sanding/trimming and a lot of dry fitting.
One thing you have to do to all Emhar Mark IVs is to remove the two small hatches on the rear slope of the roof - they're an addition to a museum vehicle Emhar looked at.
Reference photos will also help. Probably the best place to start looking is on Peter Kempf's wonderful Landships site HERE .
