I've got some paint on this now! I'm goin' with an early captured beutepanzer resprayed in Panzer Grey with a whitewash applied. I have a totally wicked tried and tested 'whitewash' technique that can yield totally realistic results, when it comes to chippin' it up, with limitless ease. More on that later, though!

Hey Paul, good to finally see some paint going on, an interesting choice of colour for the base coat, most would have used straight black, I shall be watching very closely how the following layers work out.
