Hi! I recently entered this in the Columbus IPMS show. It's been on my workbench for a loooong time, and it's finally done! It's also the 1st time I have felt brave enough to use my airbrush.

It's the Tamiya 1/35 Tiger I (Mid-production) with interior. I upgraded it with a metal barrel, numerous photo-etch sets, random stolen parts from about 5 other models (MG 34, Ammo boxes, Notek light, etc.), and decals for the labels inside the tank (from Verlinden).

Tank #223 in SS-sPzAbt.101, commanded by Jurgen Brandt, a Tiger Ace with 57 kills. During the Battle of Villers-Bocage, he was under the command of Wittmann, and guarded Hill 213 during the initial stages of the battle.

Any comments or advice on how to make it better would be appreciated!

Thanks!
- Steve

Hi Steve,

Your Tiger looks great. I'm not sure how I feel about the propped open look but judging by the ribbon, they apparently liked it at the show! I had planned to attend the Columbus show but my wife insisted we go to Florida a week earlier. I know we missed some nasty weather but how was the show in general? Did the weather effect it much??

Thanks and congrats on your award.

Gary

Hey Gary!

Thanks! I think it turned out alright...I didn't want to include the ribbon, I hope it doesn't look like it's flaunting or anything. The pictures from other angles were not too good.

And, figuring out how to display it was definately the hardest part. (besides wiring the Notek light). Propped open is the best way I could come up with, but if you have any ideas please let me know!

The Columbus show was great! There were over 500 entries, and a bunch of vendors. The quality of the models was really impressive too. I think it was the best of the 4 shows I have attended. The weather was aweful. Normally a 20 min. trip to the show...took well over an hour. I was told that the show started to pack up early so that people living to the south of Columbus could try to beat another storm!

Steve,

I like what you've done with this kit! Congrats on the award. I'm not a Tiger expert, but I thought more of the interior would have been a red-oxide primer color... Still, like I said, I like it, and it looks great!

The propped open look is probably great in person. Boy, I'm sorry to have missed that show. I had a bunch of entries myself all ready but in retrospect, being in Florida and not driving the hundred miles to Columbus from Cincinnati in a major snow storm probably worked out for the best. But I sure hated to miss it.
