Hello all,

Haven't posted in a very long time and wanted to let everybody know what an awesome model this Char B1 from tamiya is! If the price wasn't so high, I'd be building another one right now. Check out my photos and let me know what you think, guys.

Cheers,
Charlie

Hi Charlie,#

Don't know much about this kit, but it seems like you've done a grand job. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Alan,

This is the new tamiya kit that came out last June - pricey but I highly recommend it. Most fun I've had with a kit in a very long time. Everything is handpainted except the basecoat which was airbrushed. I still need to add the pigtail, the light cover and attach the tow chains...

Cheers,
Charlie

You've done an excellent job on the very complex multi-tone french camo there Charlie, just one minor thing, it still looks a bit too shiny for my taste, but that could just be a trick of the lighting...

Keep on posting your work, cant wait to see your next project.

Thanks for your comments Mark! Yes, I've been advised on toning down the shine a bit more, I'm deciding how to accomplish that right now...possibly a light misting with a dark yellow or sand color. This was a very, very fun project and hopefully my next project will be the French S35.

Cheers,

Charlie

Thanks Tom...

It's too bad (and surprising) a decent S35 kit has not been released by Tamiya or Dragon...Guess, I'll have to check around for one.

I will add a few more pics with the pigtail added, shortly...

Cheers,

Charlie

Hi Charlie
Thats a beauty mate ,I'm going to start mine soon with the same tri colour cammo, how do get the black lines so even?
I was going to attempt to AB mine but I think hand painting is the way to go with this cammo pattern

Hi Andy!

Yes, with this kit, hand painting is definately the way to go - the base coat of dark yellow/desert yellow (tam) was AB'd but that's all. Being my first attempt at a hard camo scheme, I used a small, fine brush and outlined the camo pattern from the box art (as best I could) and then painted in the colors. I had pics of how I accomplished this but unfortunately, they were lostin an OS crash... Anyway, this kit although being expensive was really enjoyable and the vehicle has tons of eye-catching surface detail!

Looking forward to your pics!

Cheers,

Charlie
