Here are 3 Shermans (of five I've been working on since September) I've recently finished.
One is a Polish M4A1 76w from Holland, 1945. Italeri kit, metal barrel (I think a DML one, actually), DML suspension, figure is also from DML (from the 6182 Firefly kit). AFV club T49 tracks.
One is a M4A3 76wHVSS w/extra armor from the 6th Armored Division in 1945. Upper/lower hull from Italeri, suspension OLD DML, as is the applique armor, turret from the DML M4A2 Soviet Sherman (with an Italeri turret ring fixed around the DML one, out of sight, of course, so that it would fit right). Figures are Tamiya, modified a bit. Tracks are AFV Club T66 rubber band type (had to shorten by one link).
Last is an M4A3 76w 9th Armored Division, Remagen Bridgehead, 1945. Italeri kit, rubio barrel, sommerfield matting made from wedding veil and plastruct rods. Figure is Tamiya (the half figure/driver from the M4A3), road made from sandpaper.
Feel free to comment or ask questions. I give Sherman advice all the time, so I thought I'd share what I've done. 2 more still to finish, then 17 more in boxes on shelves!

Alan,
Yes, the 9th Armored one would be from around "the bulge" on. With the sign I've put there, Leutesdorf, it would be around March 20 of 1945.
The other one, the 6th Armored one, would be anytime from late January, when the applique modifications took place, through to the end of the war.
I forgot to mention that I replaced the post-war exhaust deflectors on both A3s with Tamiya ones.
Glad you like them.

3 great shermans, all nicely done.
It would be great if the photos were slightly better quality, and some close-ups would be nice, but from what I can tell they all look great. Only pointers are:
The road in the polish one looks a bit orange, i'd suggest highlighting a few more bricks and 'dirtying' it up a bit.
In the M4A3 76wHVSS one the tank commander and loader look a little stiff and unatural with their arms just stuck out in front of them. I can't tell if they are leaning on the hatch edges or not, a closer pic might help.
Good work anyway, obviously a dedicated shermanaholic!

Thanks for the comments guys. Keep 'em coming...
James, the guys in the E8 are sort of leaning on fittings around the hatches....the TC has his left hand on the .50 brace, and the loader has one of his hands on a periscope guard. But I'd agree....the loader especially looks a bit stiff. Thanks.

I can only see the Polish and the 9th Armd. The 6th Armd comes up as a tortoise saying the album is empty
The 2 that I can see thought look great.

Yeah, I just checked myself and I don't know what happened?! Worst of all, I'm at work and the filters here don't allow me to log in to my Yahoo account, so I can't fix the links until this afternoon/evening! There WERE 4 pics of the 9th armored, I think 5 of the Polish 1, and 5 of the 6th AD one. Where they went I have no idea.
Thanks for the comments though. Check back this evening or tomorrow if you have the time. Hopefully I can get them working again, or post them directly here. I prefer to model than fight with my computer, though.

Just trying something. If this works, they'll be a pic of a Polish M4A1 76w here. If not, I'll be editing shortly. If so, please pardon my ineptitude!
Rob
A ha! it worked. Okay, I'll also post one each of the others. These, along with other angles, are all in my gallery.
Here's the 9th Armored M4A3 76w
And the 6th Armored M4A3 76w HVSS
Time to see if they all work.....by the way, I know many of you have seen them already, but my yahoo page is causing all sorts of issues, so I thought I'd try hosting them here and see if I can learn a thing or two....Thanks for bearing with me.

Gday Rob
Love the 3 tone on the 9AD Sherman! Have to say your stowage looks excellent, and the use of the air recog. panels is quite realistic. What did you make the antenna wire out of?
The bases are simple yet effective, although there is scope to improve each one if need be...Meaning mostly that they are a little too neat and tidy, although this goes against only my preference! The 9AD M4A3 base could use a little dust/dirt blended between the grasses (which are clumped nicely BTW) and the road surface, same for the brickwork ont he M4A1 base, although the HVSS base looks like a short grassed field sure enough!
Cheers

Bradley J,
Thanks for the comments.
As is always the case for me (and others, I know), my photography sucks compared with my model building (both need improvement, but I don't want to start a SECOND hobby!). Thus, the tanks you see do a look a lot more dirty in person. For example, the A1 is pretty well streaked vertically, as is the E8, and I also took care to put dirty and grass from that grassy field into the E8 tracks. The cleanest is probably the 9th Armored one, as the Sommerfield matting made it tough to use my "usual" weathering techniques. I was afraid I'd rip it all off!
The air panels are just printer paper, airbrushed flourescent red (looks more orange in the pic) on the E8 and I think I used Blue Angel yellow for the other, and then white on the reverse side. I hand painted Polly S OD for the edges. Antenna is just really thin rod/wire from my LHS. I think it's actually pre-straightened guitar string....I bought all they had, b/c I knew I'd need it with 2 more nearly done Shermans and then 17 more on the shelf to do!
If you get to my album photos on kitmaker (don't know if you can access them), there are some shots of the base for the 9th Armored one before I put the tank on, and I think it's pretty well streaked/dirtied up, but I think I see what you mean...a little more at the edge of the road. I didn't want to overdo it.
Thanks for the comments.

Hi Rob,
Thanks for that. On the bases I'd say that as a simple display stands they are just about right. No need for much more when you're simply displaying the model, just something to mount it in . My humble thoughts anyway.
How many varients left to go Rob??????? :-) :-)
Cheers

Al,
Thanks for the additional comments.
What's left:
Almost complete:
M36B1
M4A3 76w (Cool Studs #4) will be part of a small dio
Then:
M4A3E8 Thunderbolt VII
M4A3 76w Thunderbolt VI
M4 Thunderbolt V
M4 from 746th TB, part of a large dio
M4 (either Calliope or "Hurricane")
M4A3 105
M4A3 75w (whitewashed)
M4A3 75w
M4A2 75 (47 degree hull, Russian)
Sherman III (Shaggy Dog?)
M4A3E8 35th TB, outside Bastogne, small dio
m36
M4A4 (grenadier Guards, nijmegen dio)
M4A4 (Irish Guards, Hell's Highway dio...tank is done, actually)
Ic Firefly Hybrid
M4A1 earlyish (2nd Armored Division, Sicliy)
M4A1 76w Operation Cobra
M4A3E2 Jumbo (old Verlinden conversion, this is a re-do, as it's done but has to be torn apart and put back together better)
I think that's it. I might be leaving one out, but that's all I can remember right now. I might add one more A2/Sherman III to be a British or Polish one in Italy. We'll see. If I live long enough, I can get them all done and then STILL do all the other T34s, Panthers, Tigers, halftracks, etc., that I have to do (I think I have about 60 unbuilt kits, not counting figures).
Rob

That's quite the roll call! Great three models you have there, any chance we could get additional photos?!?
thanks,
Frank

I can't right now...I'm at work and filters here won't let me on. But all of the photos are in Kitmaker under my screen name Hogarth. If you have a kitmaker login, you can see them there, blow them up, etc. There are all round views of each. Sadly, my photo skills aren't the best, nor is my equipment. But I try to focus more on the models than photos.
Thanks.

6th Armd Div tank is definitely my favourite. Im in the process of finishing one myself, same battalion too but No12 instead of No19.
When did they start putting the big numbers on the side? Where can I pick some up?
Pics of my E8 6th Armd are in the Feedback on my M4A3E8 forum post if you wanted a look.

Desmond,
Thanks for the kind words. I'll have to check yours out.
I've seen numerous pics of the high speed #'s on the side, but can't say when they were first used. The big 19 came with the OLD DML M4A376wHVSS kit from the early 90s...decals have held up all this time! Go figure.

lol,lol :-) :-) :-) :-) - That should keep you off the streets.
Once I have my 3 M4A1s finished then I have the Firefly Ic, 2 Sherman IIIs, the Tarawa and the Mk III, to build. After that the M32BI, and a second M7 Priest that I class as "Sherman". I have a couple of M4 hulls that will turn into M4 Fireflies and I'd like to do a British 105mm some time.
With the Dozer and Flail Conversion sets it looks like another couple of M4A4s as well.
Lots to keep one busy that's for sure.
Cheers and happy building.

Yeah, I seem to have a slight problem, too.
As an aside, sort of, I have, in the past, built the Tamiya M4A3, M4, Italeri Priest, Calliope, M4A3, M4A1, and the older Dragon HVSS kit (which is where I got the applique plates from for the 6th Armored one above....just yanked them off!). Oh, and the old Tamiya Lee, and the Italeri m32. Most were either unloaded on ebay or are used for painting/technique practice.
My brother had a similar problem, but his was the F-4 Phantom jet, sort of the Sherman of jets, as they were used by many nations, have many variations, were used by US Air Force, Navy, and Marines, and could be set up as fighters or bombers/ground attack.
This is probably why I also like the Pz IV a lot, though I haven't built quite so many of those.

Thanks for the information.
I will probably have to strip down my E8 because it is already painted and weathered but no speed numbers on it. To make it right the hull needs re-doing.
