Hi there
And now for something completely different...
"My hovercraft is full of eels"
Ok just kidding.
It's a Sherman tank yet again, but this one is a little simpler for the fact that there was no painstaking conversion wilderness of DML M4A2 'Tarawa' to regular M4, rather the Sherman Mk.III with the Formations M4 conversion for said kit...
This one is still fun, and have a few doodads (and whatnots) in resin that I can spruce 'er up with... Made the applique with measurements from an article by Kurt Laughlin in Military modelling magazine (very helpful) and made the welds from Magicsculpt. Did a measure and reconstructed the top half of the foulweather attachment strip out of brass wire. A couple of parts have broken off obviously, and will be left off until the last possible moment...

Will make this into the most generic mid-production possible, (save for the 3 piece housing!) and will explore specifics once ready for painting/decals etc. May do something different in having the headlights stowed and plugs in place?
Cheers for having a butchers

Looks promising. Good luck on your build. Like most of us, can't get enough of good old Shermans!

Hi Brad,

Another wee Sherman project on the go

I'm not sure I follow you thinking here, but I may have missed something along the way. Are you doing a series of M4s in their various guises?

Looking good so far Sir.

Have fun.

Cheers

Mate, I have nothing but endless opportunity to stuff this up...
The more you get into the build, the more it spreads exponentially...
Thanks for the kind words though. Anny ideas for a diorama?
Had a couple of ideas of either carving through some muddy field (!) during the fighting in Lorraine, namely Singling, which would make it a 4AD 37TB tank... They suffered their greatest tank losses (14) on a single day here, when 5 were brewed up by Pathers of the 11 Panzer Div. and another 9 had to be abandoned as were too bogged for recovery and then damaged by artillery... Mmmmmmm... muddy dio beckons (again!)
Save that, it could be part of the Ardennes Offensive, as I haven't been down the 'snow' road for a while... Hmmm.....

Gday Al
Nope...
I just have a Sherman yearnin... Want to produce the perfect (in my eyes) mid/late production M4, and actually finish the damn thing without somehow getting sidetracked or stuffing it up with dodgy masking tape

Know what you mean , I may have to sign myself in before the men in the white van arrive. The Bear suggested adding the M4A1 76mm to the Mk IIs to complete the set and there was me thinging I almost had them done

Enjoy yourself, and the disaster with the masking tape, can with your skill be put right. Takes a few days to get over the shock though, had the same problem when I realised the Dragon Instructions on the MK IIs were wrong, almost put them into the bin

Cheers

Looking good so far. As another "committed" Sherman enthusiest, there can never be enough on the word bench.

Thanks Thomas and Randall
Progress-wise there has been very little. I reshaped the front right applique to have the small cut edge on the top right so it doesn't overlap the glacis weld... Managed to break all but the crank handle for the pioneer and mechanic tools from Formations, but got them in place ok!
I want to scratch the grille over the grouser storage vents as the PE versions don't ring true enough for me (save for their convenience of course)
Tonight is a write-off as going to the season opener for the A.F.L. with D's vs. St.K. @ M.C.G. (OK?!)
Cheers
