Hi all,

This is my first camo project. The kit is a old tamiya 250/9.

I like the pattern but there appears to be alot of overspray. I usually try to go back and erase it with the base color. OTT, looks good.

Overspray (the little dots outside the paint stripes) is usually caused by either 1) too high of a psi when spraying or 2) paint isn't thinned properly to allow it to flow evenly. Play with your AB settings including spray distance from nozzle to model, psi, thinner ratios, etc. and you can significantly reduce this effect. Even then, AB patterns will have a fine "feathered" edge vs. a masked or hand-painted hard-edge which sets it apart. As Mark suggests you can also come back along the edges of the stripes with the basecoat and adjust the overspray and blend/fade the camo together that way.

You've got a great start with the stripes and overall pattern, just a matter of practice with your particular AB to fine-tune.

I let the camo this way and have started with the weathering:

The washes and chipping has been done and here is the result.
I hope you like it.

Hi Martin,

I like it alot. With the scratches and weathering any overspray has almost disappeared. It all blends in well together.

Very nice finish Martin!
Agree with MArk. The original pverspray has been blended nicely! How did you execute the chipping? I have never tried it as I only seem to build Shermans...

I like the overspray myself,Martin.Just like real life. For me, striped camo has to do two things-disrupt the shape/form/image of the subject and realistically look like it was applied by a figure in the subjects scale. That makes your shooting pretty good.
cheers!
