Hi terryli,
Just had a look at your photo - I can't work out why your part b42 has that projecting pivot point - there is supposed to be a circular boss, into which the lug you've pointed out on L8 is supposed to fit; looks like you'll have to saw most of the long piece of plastic off b42, leaving a stub of about 1mm. Then you'll have to carefully drill a hole of about 2mm diameter so the lug on L8 can fit.
Either that or you can send to Dragon for a replacement part.

I recently built Dragon's Pak 40, and i'm sure some of the same spruces are included in your kit. The base for the gun (L8) looks correct, I have no idea what that thing sticking of the bottom of the gun cradle is!
Perhaps take a picture of the underside of the gun so we can see where it is sticking out from.
There should be a small recessed circle on the bottom of the gun that fits onto the nub projecting from part L8. It may be a case of removing the sticking out part of the gun if that recess is there or doing a bit of fiddling to get it to fit as Jeff suggests!
Good luck,
James

I recently built the SdKfz 251/22 ausf D kit, and I don't recall any issues like that. Mine went together pretty well. The gun cradle's bottom plate had a small hole into which the short pin on the mounting plate went.
