I just got a new DC, so I wanna give it a shot. I wanna make it something special, so I thought to myself, heck, I show the buddies in armorama how it began.
This is my first model one year before I get back to this hobby. a Tam. Pz IV Ausf H, OOTB, no weathering, no nothing, first time with airbrush. So now havea laugh.
Another reason I post this is I want to let all the new modellers know that it's not hard to make okay model, come to this site, ask a lot of question, and practice, I am glad that I found this site. I still got a lot to learn, but my modelling skill kinda improved since my first one....
Now commence the laugh....
PS. God I sucked!!!

As long as you enjoyed building it and gained some experience in its construction, then be proud of your tank. Who cares if it is not a contest winner?

It looks good to me. Sabot is right, if you had fun and built on your skills, it was a sucessful build.
Congrats on a nicely done model.

This tank looks fine to me. Any kit you build with pleasure is a winner.

Congrats with the new DC dude
That are some nice pictures man and I agree with the others about the fun side of building it. I bet you were proud when you finished it??
As for me I still have my first kit too. An early tiger I believe from Tamyia though you will probably not recognize it as it became my "technique testing tank" since that time he had seen 4 different types of snow, 6 ways to do zimmerit, some chipped paint experiments, a couple of bullethole experiments and go on.
Anyway great pics and a great first timer

Looks quite good to me! It's hard to tell the details from here but did you shade and weather lightly?
I'm struggling around with my own first airbrushed project. I tried to preshade, and then paint a basecoat. I think it went on heavy since the preshade black is just barely visible on some areas... and it's inconsistent. I may have to post shade lightly some black as well. The best part was the front which I didn't overdo.
Does anyone care for some constructive comments and suggestions? I haven't finished the lower hull yet, and I forgot to add the hatches in, but I'll do that next. BTW, I will be doing a splotchy winter white wash with an airbrush after this coat so there's a far ways to go. Would you guys suggest decalling now or later?

Hey Rich, looking good. I don't see any problem with that so far. Definitely looked better than my first tank.
Anyway, you have to check your reference to see if you need to put decal on now or later. Some tank has white wash all over, so the decal can be placed before the white wash, whilst other left out the spot for unit call sign from white wash, so you can apply after the white wash.

That PzIV looks very nice for a first kit. I only started painting a few months ago and mine don't look half as good as this!

:-)Dave If my first German armour model ('twas a Leapard) came out that good I might (might) still be modelling armour. Tried using liquid mask for the green camo, put it on to thin and couldn't get it off very early air brushing days. Still got the wheels, had some nice nuts on them. :-)
:-) RichSharpe, like the pre-shading, I do it on my aircraft models, although only around detail and on panel lines. :-) Just a thought and remember I build aircraft, not armour, Pre shading with black makes the sand yellow look dark (I'm guessing thats an armour modeller thing?) the reason I pre-shade is to get tonal veriations over the panels. If you were to use, say a dark earth shade for the pre-shading it might compliment the top coat and not darken it as much :-) Just a thought, cos by using a dark earth shade, were the black is showing through, you would have the earth colour?

Hey buddy!
It's a real good looking model, and if you already spot the areas you think you should improve, you're on the way.
But the must important question is: Did you have fun? If so, that's what really matter.
Congratulations and keep up the good work.
Cheers
