Here it is............please give me some tips on precise CA placement. I have the fancy nozzles, but the ultra thin variety still runs like crazy, as evidenced by the CA burn marks. Hopefully, they're shallow enough to be completely covered up by the paint.
BTW, that baking soda on the pipes, not CA!
Thanks,

Fritz, I prefer to use the medium viscosity CA glue myself. I use a toothpick to get a couple drops and place them in a bottlecap or on a bag from the kit sprues. It doesn't dry as fast as the thin stuff, and the plastic won't absorb the glue. I use a piece of wire or a toothpick and apply to the part before placing it on the model.

very nice !!!!
I like the very thin PE very much !
I prefer to use gel CA glue. I apply a bit of it on a tooth pick and I use the toothpick to apply the very little bit of glue I need for the part. Gel CA glue was a revelation to me after liquid CA glue !

Mr. Fritz,
We talked about this Jagd back in the chat a few, I don't understand why are you so hard on yourself. This is fantastic looking model, and if I am not mistaken, your first use of PE, right? they looked awesome. And the build is clean. I like it a lot!!!!!!
Have you try the trick of placing a few drop of CA glues on a piece of label back paper (you know the yellow smooth kind), then allpy CA with a pin? this trick works out great.
Good looking Jagd.

Looking good Mr. Fritz.....fine work on the PE. I agree with the majority of the comments about CA application...toothpicks, pins, wire....whichever works best for you.

Hey, this is coming on really well Fred, :-) you are doing very well with that PE, even if it does make you go blind
Have you had to remove the original tools attachments by sanding before replacing with the PE parts? If so, how did you do that, dremel too or by hand sanding? I'm interested because as you know I have the Sherman PE set I have just started on and am dreading the tool parts.
Keep it up mate, it's clearly going to be a fine model :-)

I don't like to use the thin CA for small partts placement, using the medium viscosity stuff instead and save the thin for a/c fuselage halves when capilary action will pull it along the seam.
When I'm out of thin and need to place PE parts, I use a drop a elmers white glue and mix it in, viola, instant meduim viscosity..

Yes Favor, I had to do quite a bit of modification to the existing tools and a few other plastic kit parts. All of the straps molded into the tools are gone, as well as the placement pins.
The biggest tip I can give, one that I learned and relearned on several occasions, is to find the plastic kit part you plan to incorporate into the PE and MAKE SURE IT FITS! I had to trim the jack holder, the shovel strap, the spare track brackets (not yet shown), the axe, and the sledge hammer after initially seting the PE in place. This meant soking the PE in acetone, trimming the semi-hard CA, and starting over.
The hammer was especially involved in getting it to fit in the bracket, as was the axe. I guess the molded versions were out of scale (I hope cause that's what I trimmed).
To do the trimming I used an X-acto with No.11 blade and a set of microfiles which I think are the best investment I made since getting back into this. I would then use nail boards from Walmart to clean up the scratches.
The pin vice is also great and was a must for the shackle toggle pins. Those toggles really work BTW.
Thanks for the compliments, I'll be using medium viscosity exclusively now.

Nice lloking tank you have there!!!
If you are going to use really thin CA glue, what I do is take an index card, put it in a plastic bag and put a few dots of glue on it. I then take a piece of sprue about 5 cm long and carve it to a point. When I need glue I put a little on the point of the sprue and apply where needed. It doesn't run on the model and it leaves less of the white residue that CA is famous for.

Great job Fritz!
I still shiver at the thought of some of those PE sets, and I've seen the instructions of even the simple sets so I can only imagine how much work they are. I imagine I will get around to adding one eventually but it looks like it takes a lot of patience and hard work. Keep it up
How are you planning to paint it BTW?

Wow!
Nice job on the JagdPanther!
Your PE work looks great in the photos.
I am still figuring out how to use that stuff! Your work is impressive.
Cheers

One of the neatest things I have learned at Armorama is to use wax paper to put your CA on. It stays good literally for hours. I then apply it with a pin, but as others have said, wire works just as well.
The model is looking good. Post more pictures soon.

wow, that's the best use of a PE kit I've seen short of a verlinden update ad. I think the only thing I'ld change is to get one of those turned aluminum barrels from Rubio or whatever the name of that company that squadron uses. Are you going to go full bore and use those metal Fruji whatever tracks, plastic individual links or the vinyl?

Well thanks for the compliments. I plan on using straight kit bands and OOB barrel too. The PE already dent the wallet enough on this one.
Thanks,
