Dear friends,
Just finished my Ardennes King Tiger of 501 battalion, it's camo was based on Dragon manual's 222- well which I found out later the Dragon manual camo was sci-fi after comparing pictures from with member here.
So here it is...(apologies for poor camera resolution), view under "my photos" below.
http://photos.kitmaker.net/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=8227
a) Well my wife says that the ambush spots are too round and sterile (well I am sure I saw 501 period pics of really round spots)...
b) Any suggestion which turret marking to add? (company 1,2 or 3?)...esp with that hard edge look of my KT.
Comments welcome. Thank you.
Up next will be decals and washing.
Cheers

Hi Lester
A site worth looking at: http://www.ss501panzer.com/ which should give you LOTS of information. (Haven't looked at the photos yet, but I will)

Looks nice and . . . (clean).
Needs mud. Needs ice. Needs snow. Needs grime.
Really though, it looks great. I finished one of these a few months ago. Great kit.

Lester -
Great looking King Tiger and one of my favorite subjects. Jeff gave you the best reference site I know concerning the sSSPzAbt 501. I've also used the 'Echelon' decals for my build and they are excellent.
http://pachome1.pacific.net.sg/~kriegsketten/
They also provide a source for great camo schemes and turret numbering as you can see;
Don't get carried away doing a bunch of snow on your KT since the 501st was pretty much out of the fight after 25 Dec when the snow really started. Mud and some ice would work better on running gear.
Also ask 'H_Ackermans' as he's about the best source around on the 'Tiger-B'.

nice just one detail I see. You should cutt of the rain guard on the front of the tower as it was added only in late march 45 (I think they say it in the manual).
