Hola Guys!
After a pretty intensive period of figure modeling I figured it was time for a break. I swaped a Jaguar Stug III interior for a DML SdKfz 250/9 with Tim (TankShack) a while back. THis is just an awesome halftrack and with a cool turret on it so now I've comenced building this beast! To spiff it up a bit I'm using Eduards PE set and a aluminum 2cm barrel. Now let me tell you, to switch to actually building a model and adding PE from figure painting is quite a difference! Ive only done one model before with all the PE stuff and it took me 2 years to finish it!! (a late Jadgpanther). And Yes!, this is my excuse for the excess glue and sloppy build up
Of course, Im going to have figures with it in a small "vignette" or maybe you would call it a diorama with a vehicle in it. Anyways, here are some pictures of the build so far. I'm acctually starting to enjoy it, the first couple of hours were going very slow!!!
Here is the left side
And the right side...
A very messy back panel...I'm not sure I like that plastic glue...it gets everywhere!!
Here is some PE on a fender!
Here are the wonderful tracks...Made them workable, then added the road wheels, glued them all together and popped them off. I know, I know, the left one in the picture is screwed up, but I'll fix this with the groundwork!! Nothing like a tree stump in the middle of a field!
Thats it for now, I'll show some more pics when there is something new to show. I'm hoping my PE skils will be polished enough by the time I get to the turret...Im working on the stowage bin 'doors' now and are still debating if I'm cutting up the DML kit to fit them or not. Can't wait to weather this half track, thats the best part about it all!!!

Anders,
It's great to know that the kit found such a fine home ....
Now, I have to get to work on my end of the "trade".... I now have a Stug III F thanks our man Dave...
The model looks really good. Can't wait to see it with the paint on it.
Later,

nifty little scoot. a little sanding and a sharp pointy edge blade will take that bit of extra glu off. can't ait to see this one finished you're braver than me with the PE, i usually skip all that little stuff, think I'll start getting down to the nitty gritty too now

Good job mate. Don't worry about the left hand track I thought you'd made it like that on purpose and was going to say how good it looked. Doubt always admit to mistakes if you think you can change to a "I did this because I'm going to".

Hola Robbo,
lol, ok I did it on purpose :-) Actually I have no clue why they turned out that way as both sides looked good when making them...Hmmmmm...it will just make it look neat when the base is finished.

Actually I thought the same! This will add some life to the vehicle--- going over something! That, to me would be an advantage. Nice model Anders! If there are some patches you are unhappy with after painting --- that is what stowage is for! Ha Ha
Hopefully we wont see your finished and painted vehicle loaded down with stowage and camo nets and flags! (Now you know all the "hiding" tricks)

I'm curious, are these tracks the famous, infamous, link to link plastic tracks I've heard about from DML? Is that why you built them around the wheels off the vehicle instead of on?
Your job looks good to me, but then you should see all the extra glue on my kits so far.

Hola PB,
Thanks! I knew about that already, actually I wish that wasn't the case, because everytime you put something on a tank such as stowage, unless in a stowage area, people think...Hmmm a srew up thats been fixed the easy way... But no, I'm not planning on having much stowage, if there are nasty marks I'll just mud 'em!!
Rodger,
Yes indeed they are the link for link tracks, pretty much all you do is glue the tracks together with the pad inbetween each link. That way you can make them fully workable, which I did, but I did Tamiyas Kettenkraftrad (sp?) once and they had the tracks molded onto the road wheels and I thought that was one smart idea so I copied it to this half track. Now I kind of regret it though as it will be a pain to paint the tracks and the wheels...but the basic idea behind it all was so I could paint the tracks seperate from the tank with out handling them too much after they are finished.
