From Scale Model Addict comes their first issue of the new magazine, and some interesting looking articles.
The first of the bi-monthly magazine from Scale Model Addict is now available. The magazine will focus on in-depth builds, finishes, tutorials, and subscribers will have access to exclusive HD video. Issue 1 contains a great looking diorama by Rick Lawler, as well as builds of a KV-8 Flamethrower, 1/48 scale King Tiger, and an Italian CV3/35. There is also an article by Iain Hamilton on realistic weathering. And much more.

Special thanks to Scott Girvan at Scale Model Addict for the update and images.

The format and content look very good. I'd like to find an issue.

Looks good, and would buy except some of the stuff has already received some pretty extensive on-line coverage, so I'm questioning how 'exclusive' the articles might be?

Hi Graeme, could you elaborate a bit as to "pretty extensive on-line coverage"? While a couple of these models have had photos posted online (which is the case with many magazine articles, in many different publications) with the exception of Rick Lawlers build, (which has the text on his blog along with almost every other published article he has done) every articles text was written exclusively for the magazine and has NOT been posted on-line. Many of the photos in each article are also not found on any forums or blogs and were saved for the magazine pages. I'm not sure where this extensive coverage is to be found?

you pretty much summed it up. Photos is what I was referring to and the main cover image of Rick's awesome dio.

Okay well like I said that's really commonplace Graeme, almost every magazine publishes models that have had photos on the internet. Adam Wilders Grille article on the cover of AFV modeler had photos on Missing-Lynx, but the 'extensive coverage' is found in the pages of text, describing the methods used to achieve the finish. Marcus Nicholls T-55 Enigma on the cover of Military Illustrated Modeller had photos posted but the ten pages found within describe the kit, the build etc. Chris Jerrets M60A1 in AK Interactive The Weathering magazine is on his blog and Missing-Lynx, Radek Pituch on the cover of Military in Scale, found on his blog, My GAZ AAA with Bofors had pictures on my blog and Missing-Lynx and is on this months cover of Military Modelcraft International. The 3000 words of text found on the ten pages of in progress photos and descriptive captions however is what that article is really about. I guess if one just looks at the photos, than SOME of the stuff in our first issue has been seen online but they are missing out on what the article is meant to be. Much of the stuff I have learned over the years has come from the text, not the pictures and that is what our authors try to do and our magazines true aim is. There is and always will be stuff in each issue built and written exclusively for the pages but in today's world of facebook and model forums, there will also be models recognizable in pictures as it's unavoidable, but the real exclusive content is in the written article itself.

Hi, I'm curious what you mean by 'our' first issue? Is SMA affiliated with Armorama?

Hi, I'm curious what you mean by 'our' first issue? Is SMA affiliated with Armorama? [/quote] No affiliation other than our love of the hobby Ken is affiliated with SMA, hence his "our first issue". I'm looking forward to seeing issue one (and beyond) of this new mag.

Thanks James Graeme, I'm the editor of the magazine and worked with each author for this issue, hence my confidence as to the 'exclusivity' of the content.
