Manta Figurines has contacted Armorama and informed us of their latest release a Free French Commando.
This figure illustrates one of the 177 Free French commandos who landed on Sword Beach (Queen Red/la Bręche-Riva Bella) in the morning of D Day. These glorious fighters fought alongside their British comrades within N°4 Commando (Col. Dawson), 1st Special Brigade (Lord Lovat). Our Free French Marine, a Vickers K-gunner, is equipped with full Pattern 1937 Battle Dress and webbing gear, he also carries the typical Bergen Rucksack and two special ammo pouches for his light machine gun. Like his brother in arms, he is carrying a latter-pattern Fairbairn-Sykes knife sewn on his left leg. This French commando is armed with the .303 Vickers K machine gun, and a Colt automatic pistol M1911A1.
Like all Royal Navy Marine Commando, he is wearing the famous green beret and a brand new French cap badge. Two steel helmets MKII are supplied, one with a chinstrap.
MF 35-08 - Free French Commando (1er BFMC/N°4 Commando). Normandie, june 6th 1944
