Spoilt with Figure Releases

MiniArt has sent Armorama news of their latest releases that should be hitting the retailers soon, and it consists of three figure sets and two sets of Soviet weapons.

MiniArt are really spoiling the members who are heavily into the figure modelling aspect of the hobby with the release of U.S. 101st Airborne Division Normandy 1944, Soviet naval troops, and Soviet soldiers at rest. The icing on the cake for these releases are Soviet infantry weapons and equipment and Soviet heavy weapons and equipment, these new sets from MiniArt really opens up the display possibilities from the view point of a Soviet figure fan.

35089 – U.S. 101st Airborne Division Normandy 1944
35094 – Soviet naval troops
35109 – Soviet soldiers at rest

35102 – Soviet infantry weapons and equipment
35170 – Soviet heavy weapons and equipment

Since the Soviets fielded the largest army in WWII I am always amazed that there are not more Red Army kits. Just sayin' J

MiniArt has seized the initiative on imaginative figure sets. If they can get their moldings up to Dragon Gen.2 then they will take over the category IMO.

I agree with Bill in New Jersey, MiniArt has come a long way and will continue to surprise us, BUT they do need to clean up their seam lines and I don't mean on their stockings (joke). Their poses are excellent but often, the darned seam/mold lines are brutally hard to eliminate. Many figures look like the Thing from the Fantastic Four, usually the crouching or sitting figures. The heads are next to worthless for the most part and Hornet/Warriors come to the rescue. I hope they press on and come up with some Gurkhas, WWI figs and more Russians - always a need for tank riders. Ironmike

I agree. The box art is excellent and gives an idea of whats inside, but somehow the plastic versions have an anticlimax effect. Instead of all those fine little wrinkles in the clothing that is seen in the box art, there are 3 large "standard" wrinkes on the plastic bits. The seams Im not too worried about ... I dont have a problem cleaning these, and in my opinion is part of building a model ... but you can only paint whats included, unless you have the skills to re-sculpt parts of the clothing.
