Some news in from Tamiya is some help for your model building sessions, well painting I should say.
Tamiya has sent in news for a new airbrush and compressor combination coming our way in November 2013. And they have included a great description of what you will get:

This set features the popular HG Air Compressor Revo II and HG Airbrush III, giving modelers all the equipment they need to start airbrushing with Tamiya acrylic paint. The Revo II in this kit features a two- tone blue and white finish.

This HG airbrush has a 0.3mm nozzle and also comes with a newly designed trigger making it a more comfortable, easy to use tool. The airbrush uses a double action mechanism which allows for better
control of the spray painting action, making for a more beautiful paint job. This is a must-have tool for all modeling enthusiasts.

• Runs at a pressure of 0.11MPa, and gives an air supply of 20l/min, making it well-qualified for
modeling use.
• The compressor has been redesigned to emit less noise, and this set also includes a mat to
ensure that vibrations are damped.
• Compatible with most airbrush types, including button- and trigger-types, as well as plastic
airbrushes.
• Compatible with 100-240V
• UL-certified

As mentioned this set will be available in November and be listed at a MSRP of $630.

Armorama would like to thank Tamiya for the update on this new tool for modelers.

That is a seriously expensive airbrush. I have 2 Badger brushes and a compressor for about half that money. Not good value, Tamiya.

An Iwata Eclipse and an Iwata Smart Jet compressor cost less than that. Just saying.

I suspect this is being produced primarily for the domestic Japanese market where the price will be way lower....

A lot of the airbrush compressors are the oil free ones , they are OK but if you want a compressor that will out live you buy one that has an oil sump just don't forget a moisture trap. They will run forever . And get one with the biggest air tank less compressor run time . Push come's to shove you can use it to run air tools also .

I too do not see a value here, must be a lot of Brand Loyalty in Japan at those prices.

my brother in Japan tells me this is still around Php23000, or roughly $470. Way more expensive that the Mr Hobby compressors. noise considerations are quite a factor there as you can get fined for being noisy (at their place it is so quiet down the streets that you could clearly hear a conversation 30 yards away)
