Hannants has moved! The shock news that one of London's most important model shops was leaving its long established home was the focus of much rumour and speculation when first announced some months ago.
Modellers can breathe again - the move went smoothly and it's business as usual at Hannants. The new premises are at Unit 2, Hurricane Trading Estate, Grahame Park Way, Colindale NW9 5QW, offering more parking spaces, but still easy walking distance from Colindale tube station and situated conveniently right next to the RAF Museum.
Inside, the difference is apparent straight away - there's more space and everything is much more accessible (no more having to climb a ladder to reach half the kits). The new shop is split into three areas; the main area is devoted to aircraft, figures, books, decals and tools, while ships and armour are in a separate room already named "Der Bunker". Last but not least - the "back room" (for want of a better name), which contains a good selection of second-hand kits and books.
The huge range of stock which Hannants carry has always made it something of a Mecca for both local modellers and visitors to London alike - and traditionalists will no doubt view the move with a touch of sadness. But with its new promises offering even more scope than the old, Hannants can hopefully look forward to a very bright future in its new home.
