Rye Field Models have released news of their Tiger I early with full interior detail. Will this consign the Academy offerings to history?
Rye Field Models continues to tackle the Tiger I in a way that others have not in quite some time. This offering when released will feature working torsion bar suspension and workable tracks. The big appeal will be the full interior that will likely attract a lot of attention.

It's on pre-order at Hobbyeasy and Sincere Hobby if anyone's interested in this kit. Hisham

There were Tigers on the eastern front painted entirely in green?

Nobody really knows. There are photos showing Tigers that obviously don't have their factory finish. So, what were they painted with? B/W photos don't tell us. Did the unit use their supply of official colours, or did they find something else? We don't know. The Tigers represented by this kit RM5003 were Panzer Grey when they left the factory. By the summer they were repainted in two colours. Green would be an obvious choice. David

Oh, I see.

Today I got my first look at the instructions of Rye Field's 5003. The biggest news; it's not a "full interior" as advertised. It omits a lot of gear that should fill the space behind the engine. There's just empty sockets on the walls where all these parts should connect. David

Has anybody else picked up this kit yet? I got one last night after the Club meeting at the LHS. Man, the box is big & heavy, full of parts. Nice instruction booklet. Some of the color call outs have me scratching my head. I always thought hull floors were Rot Oxide not a dark blue-grey also engine & transmission same color. Paint aside, the MGs & pioneer tool seem way under scale compared to the Dragon Tigers. Opinions???? Anyway, I plan on building it with the hull & turret tops off. Don't know how I'm going to show the turret. In place or off to show the torsion bars, shell stowage and other un-named items. I sure do wish that they named all the little parts. I know that a multi lingual listing of everything is impossible but a guy can wish. Don't have a lot of research material, the Tiger Tank workshop & Owners manual, the Tigerfiebl, internet. David, if you happen to read this posting I probably will visit your site from time to time if that's OK with you. Everything being said, I just want a kit that goes together smoothly, a minimum of filling and VERY little nonkit plastic for gap filling. A good weekend to everybody ! Tom

David if you happen to read this thank you for the 2 links. Both were excellent ! I spent a good portion of my day reading and making notes on colors & construction. I learned so much about the kit and Tigers in general. A BIG thanks to all 3 Davids that were involved in building and tech support ! Tom
