Battlegate Games released a 1/35 scale Airboat. This is the third airboat we are covering in the last couple of weeks, slightly different than the two announced before.
We don't have much info on the release, but knowing Battlegate portfolio, this set is a product of 3D rapid prototyping cast in resin. I'm not sure if the kit includes PE sheet... the large mesh surrounding the propeller suggest it could be the case.

The Battlegate catalogue can be seen here: http://www.battlegategames.com/

Actually this one looks like a hovercraft as opposed to the other two, which are airboats.

Yup, it is a hovercraft, not an airboat. The duct in front of the fan funnels air to below the boat and inflates the rubber pillow around the hull to lift the boat onto a cushion of air, which allows it to hover over the surface; be it water or land.

Is there a date and time for when this hovercraft represents...Vietnam...1980s...1990s...today? I can see someone using it for a search and rescue option.

I think this is a modern civilian sport hovercraft. As far as I know, the only hovercraft used by the US in Vietnam was the much larger PACV (Patrol Air Cushion Vehicle). Masterpiece Models offers a resin kit of it in 1/35.

Good points, Gino, thanks.

In Vietnam, the PACV pictured in Gino's post was used by the US Navy. The Army deployed the lesser-known Bell SK5 Model 7255 ACV there : More info H.P.
