Hot off the heels of its previous T-54 announcement, MiniArt follows up with the T-54-2 variant. Here we see sprue shots, CAD renditions, and other details of the kit-in-process.
The Soviet T-54 main battle tank was introduced just after the end of World War II. Entering full production in 1947 it became the primary tank of the Soviet Army, Warsaw Pact armies, as well as other countries, seeing action in many of the world's armed conflicts during the late 20th century.

The T-54-2 variant was introduced in 1949. Compared with the previous model, it had a revised turret which featured flattened side facings, a rear overhang and a dome-shaped roof. Wider tracks were installed as well as an improved transmission system. The machine guns were relocated at the bow and managed by the driver.

MiniArt kit 37004 reproduces the T-54-2 as a highly detailed model inside and outside. Boasting a parts count of more than 1000 in plastic, photo-etched, and clear media, its decal sheet offers 6 finishing options. Other details include:

  • Fully detailed fighting and driver’s compartments
  • Interior of turret accurately represented
  • V-54 engine
  • Cast steel surfaces are accurately represented
  • All hatches can be posed open or closed
  • Full-colour instruction sheet

These models are just absolutely mind-blowing. Pity the engine/transmission compartment is not fully detailed.

It had to happen didn't it. And I just finished my Tamiya T54 model 1949 conversion using the Legend conversion set. Grrrrr. Still this does look very nice.

Thanks for taking one for the team Matthew! How was the conversion, now I have to decide whether to build mine or sell it and wait for the MiniArt kit.
