2007 is the year of the first model contest at Omaha Beach !
A model show and contest is going to take place in Vierville Sur Mer, Normandy, France on the 1st 2nd and 3rd of June 2007.
It is the very first time a model show is organised there. The organiser is a passionate modeler and hopes to see many other modelers present !
The aim is to create friendly exchanges between modelers, from the youngest to the most experienced.
The contest will be divided in 3 categories :
- big red one : high level of detail
-indian head : intermediate level of detail
-blue and grey : beginners level
There will be sub-categories, depending on subject and scale.
At the end of the contest, every participant will be given the evaluations the judges made of his model. This is intended as a learning experiment for the participant and a proof of honnesty by the judges.
Of course, you can still show your models for the week-end without taking part to the contest !
If you wish to show your models, you should get in touch with the organiser before the 18th of May.

On that week-end, there will be commemorations of the landings in Normandy.
This means we hope some of the real soldiers who were there in 1944 will be back on the beaches and in the streets.
There will also be military music, and an interesting thing for us modelers : colectors, going through the streets in 1944 unifors and with 1944 vehicles !
Vierville Sur Mer is the western tip of a place better known as Omaha Beach. The well known Pointe Du Hoc, where the rangers landed is only a few kilometers away.
American and german military cemeteries are also a few kilometers away.
The Normandy countryside is a very nice place and there’s also a lot of WW2 history to discover there.
