Trumpeter follows up its earlier release with a kit that may be finished either as a vehicle in service with the armed forces Finland or Netherlands.
Delivered to the U.S. Army in 1983, The M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (M270 MLRS) is an armored, self-propelled, multiple rocket launcher that has been adopted by several NATO countries.

The M270A1 variant came about as an upgrade program of the U.S. Army in 2005. Whilst it appears identical to the M270, the M270A1 has an Improved Fire Control System (IFCS) and an Improved Launcher Mechanical System (ILMS). M270A1 launchers feature improved survivability, reduced operating cost, increased munition options and GPS navigation. The Royal Netherlands Army operated the M270A1s until 2004, after which 22 units were sold to the Finnish Army in 2006.

Trumpeter’s M270/A1 Multiple Launch Rocket System – Finland / Netherlands (01047) features a multi-directional slide-molded cab and lower hull. More than 960 parts comprise this kit including 184 individual track links, a copper tube and a photo-etch fret. Decals are provided to finish the vehicle either as under service with Netherlands or Finland. As built the model stands at 200.5mm (L) by 89.5 mm (W).

Background information on the vehicle sourced from Wikipedia.

What parts make this release Finnish or Dutch, other than decals? Any reason, other than sales strategy, that US Army markings are not included?

Trumpeter lists this release as having a higher parts count compared the previous one. I have inquired and have yet to hear their feedback.

I wonder if Finland and the Netherland are such large export markets? A British Army MLRS would be more suitable. I wonder if the price tag is as high as with the MARS? I am pretty sure that there will be again no anti-slip coating on the launcher deck.

Is there any one out there that does after market British army markings
MAY 19, 2017 - 08:35 PM
Not yet, but perhaps Trumpeter may release a British one to further milk the cow...

On a side note, British markings were included in Italeri's boxing of Dragon M270 kit... H.P.
