Hi Carlos, Thanks for your review. Having just ( nearly) finished IBG's recovery crane I suggest there is quite an amount of differences between the two companies. The Thunder model seems to be much more detailed and complex, thus more hours building fun! Eg. the very detailed axles on the last wheels and the steering front wheels by Thunder Model. However, the costs for the IBG Scammell were more than reasonable. There are hours of uncomplicated hobbying in the IBG box. I guess Thunder Model will require considerably more (the reimbursement for the engineering hours for the design have to come from somewhere (read: our credit card)), which is fair, no discussion about that. But IBG offers more than quality for those who can/will not pay half week's wages for an interesting build. In so far IBG offers high quality for younger/ starting modellers. The outcome is a very nice truck which will atract attention, even by rivet counters! I will wait for a comparison (on PMMS' site one day?) to see which one will come next to my Dragon Wagon, the Wehrmacht Halbkettenfahrzeug mit Panzertransportanhänger and Faun. Now we must hope for some UK drivers and engineers to man these heavy weights. And before someone writes that Miniart supplies a set: those guys don't fit at all, not even after considerable surgery. Last but not least: Accurate Armour has various sets which will deliver all tools, chains and other stuff to secure the load to the trailer.

Not waiting for any comparisons. I have a lot of faith in thunder models and with a 20% early order discount I will have one coming my way in 2 weeks. Been waiting a long time for a scamel in plastic and have already heard the ibg criticism's. This one will be better ! I feel it in my bones....

Large vehicles such as these are normally not my cup of, but these images look very tempting indeed. The different wheel patterns and massive trailer make it rather atractive. Now where on earth would I store such a huge model after assembly ..

First: Build a British WW II tank and make room for it on the shelves/display cabinet. Second: Pretend that you build a modern tank and make room for it. Third: Build the Scammell, let the tractor part occupy the space you reserved for the modern tank, lift up the British WW II tank, park the semitrailer in the vacated space and set the WW II tank on the trailer. Fourth: Problem solved When we start talking about the modern massive tank transporters like the HET then we'll have issues with cabinets/shelves ..... / Robin

I'm with Robin. Break a problem down into components and you will easily resolve it. Then again you can always go to your friendly white goods retailer and ask for box from a fridge they have on display. You can cut that to shape, make it double skinned for rigidity and make a box and a lid the right size to store the full length kit in. Maybe you can put that under the bed, or in it, if you eject the Mrs!!!
