So feel free to tell me that I'm totally behind the curve here, but is this now the new incarnation of what was "MIG Productions"? I think I recalled that Abteilung was a brand of Mig Prods, but MIG Productions seems to have disappeared, so presume this is what it has become? Obviously Mig himself is now Ammo by Mig. Has anyone tried the Abteilung "Magic Gel" for preserving brush points etc.? Any views on what it might actually be made of? (Not saliva, presumably)

No, this is not a reincarnation of MIG Productions. Abteilung was it's own brand and was distributed by MIG Productions under their umbrella of products. It never had MIG Productions name/banner on it but Abteilung 502. When MIG Productions went out of business Abteilung 502 decided to continued the line under it's own brand name. You should really try the Magic Gel, I strongly believe you are going to like it, but can't tell you what its made of since it's proprietary. Hope this helped in clearing up the confusion. By the way, you are going to ask how I know these things? I was the North American Distributor for MIG Productions before they disappeared and left us distributors in the dark and without product to sell. I highly recommend the Abteilung 502 products, they were the best seller items when I had the MIG Productions line. Cheers

What is "magic gel" and why should I care?

Magic gel is a gel that reforms brush tips.i have and use it and it seems to work well.it smells really good too.

I like the rust & exhaust set myself, being kind of tired of doing it the old way with, you know, real rust... I'm going to have to try this out sometime soon!

I've been using the magic gel. Clean the brush, dip it in the gel, then wipe it off a little. Is this the correct way to do it? Or am i doin' it wrong? tried to contact them about the products use, but never got a response.

I hope the quality of pigments is improved by that of MIG P. because in those of the MIG that I have occasionally there are lumps of pigments that inside are white and I imagine it is talcum powder,very annoying, and in any case compared to other brands they are quite expensive considering the quantity For Gel as we say in Italian "Thinking bad is a sin, but often you are right" I seriously doubt it's simple hair gel I used for already 10 years ago and it works pretty well to keep the tip but the most important part is cleaning
