MiniArt's Latest 1/35th Building - French Street

Previously listed here, but now showing up on the the company's website as an 'imminent' release is new release from MiniArt

36006 - FRENCH STREET is a kit for building a section of French street. Two frontages of typical buildings are included. The kit also contains such items as injection-moulded window frames, shutters and a variety of other accesories. A base is also included as are items such as lamposts. As a bonus, a sheet of commercial and road signs is also included.

For those unaware of MiniArt's building/diorama range, the building components (walls and roofs) are moulded in styrene using vacuum-forming which, for subjects like this, is an ideal medium where a 'lower' tolerance of accuracy is unnecessary. The company has published a useful guide on its website which covers the construction of the buildings. It can be seen:

Thanks Jim. Am I correct in saying that this kit contains the buildings seperately available as "Normandy City Building" and "French Cafe" together with a unique base section? A very nice looking release. This is definitely a release that will become quite popular. I can think of a couple of uses for my stash alone... Rudi

Although I obviously don't have this one yet in the shop, I don't think it is just the Normandy building and French Cafe thrown together. As I do have both of those here, if you put them together, i would think you would end up with a much larger dio than what this set provides. It does however look like those 2 kits, but just smaller. Miniart seems to out do themselves every time they bring one of these out, I for one am looking forward to the rest of their releases this year!!

Thanks Scott. That said, according to MiniArt the Normandy building measure 122mm across with the cafe measuring 145mm across the building front. Lump the 2 together flush they're 267mm across... so perhaps not impossible if the base is 334mm in length... MA have a few more images on the product page. Interestingly the images link to those of the respective individual sets where applicable. So perhaps it is indeed the 2 kits put together onto the same base? Rudi

This looks to be a good one! The only thing I hope they do in future is to have the two parts of the walls - instead of joining on two thin edges, which often need reinforcement strips behind the joint - have the joint overlap (one fit inside the other) for a much stronger and easier join together. I sent Miniart this suggestion, but perhaps my russian was not up to the job (as in entirely lacking!). Their newer figures are very nice also.
