Vintage car enthusiast Stephen Lally has just published a book on the Talbot motor factory in WW1.
The book, Talbot in the First World War covers the activities of Talbot Cars and the Clement Talbot Works 1914-1919.
The Talbot factory was the headquarters of the Royal Naval Armoured Car Division. It was here that the armoured car was developed in 1914 and 1915, leading to the first successful Rolls Royce armoured car. It was also where the first prototype tank was developed and tested in 1915.
The book also touches on other experiments in mechanised warfare, anti aircraft batteries and military support vehicles. It also includes brief stories of armoured cars in use in SW Africa, Egypt and Russia in the Great War.
The book is A4 size, soft cover, 76 pages long and contains 140 photographs, many of which have never been seen by present-day vehicle enthusiasts.
Price: including P&P is £15 in UK, £16 in Europe and £17 in the rest of the world.
