Thanks for the info Jon. Im not sure I like this idea. Sure there is good definition between each panel, but when painted, each individual panel will be flat. I know wood grain would not be textured in 1/35 scale, but to paint, some texture must be present for ease of painting. Its not too easy to master the art of painting woodgrain on flat surfaces I think plastic still is easier to work with. It can be sanded with coarse grit paper and given some texture. Plastic shims can be added to fill gaps ... very visible in the model shown, and joints made invisible. We all have cement for fixing plastic ... much easier to work with than superglue, and plastic putties. I´d like to see this painted up before I make my mind up fully.

You have to admit a little Frank that it does look pretty good. Why not a light paint job and some air eraser work with baking soda to bring the wood grain back? What do you say Frank?

I actually considered using real wood to make custom planks for my kit if and when I had the skill to do it. Frank has a point, but if you wanted to create a damaged one then this could give you a very realistic looking model. Or you could heavily weather it as Jeff has suggested. I would really like to see somebody put one of these detail sets to good use just to see what is possible with them.

LOL ... Im admitting nothing!!!! Yeah ... it looks OK in the raw. As I said in my first post "Sure there is good definition between each panel" .... and then came the BUT ... "but what will it look like when painted?" I finished with "I´d like to see this painted up before I make my mind up fully." I still have this apprehension about it and thats my gut feeling on it. I won´t run out and buy it without seeing it painted!
