"Fahrgestell" in this case (as I understand it) means the vehicle itself... the 5ton Sd.Kfz.6. Also "Zugkraftwagen" means this vehicle... when towing the ammo-trailer. So as I read, the 2 words are for the same thing... the tracked chassis, which also tows the trailer. But the word "Fahrgestell" can mean a tracked or a wheeled base for a vehicle. If I recall my limited understanding of German vehicle nomenclature rightly... "3.7cm Flak 36 auf Fahrgestell Zugkraftwagen 5t" would mean the 3.7cm flak gun 36 mounted on the chassis of the 5-ton-rated "prime-mover" half-track Sd.Kfz. 6. The German word usually denoting a trailer is "Anhanger" - and, in many cases, military trailers were called "Sonder-Anhanger" ("special trailers"), abbreviated as Sd.Ah., as in the "Sd.Ah. 52" used to carry ammo for the Flak 37 gun. So.... I would expect that the box would indicate something like "mit Sd.Ah. 52" or something similar if it did come with the trailer. Brian, I have been tagged as a Trumpeter cheerleader in the past, LOL, but I will say this much here: at least Trumpy is offering a trailer. These guns ate up lots of ammo, and it strains credulity to think they had a line of Opel Blitzes or Mercedes 4500s carrying the shells into battle. In DML's defense, the overwhelming number of historical photos do not show any trailers. Whether that's because the ammunition was carried by separate supply columns or battalions, or because most of these photos are at rest, after hours when perhaps the trailer was back in the motor pool, I don't know. And finally, as the war drew on, the "never and always" moments seem to get fewer and fewer: Saw a photo the other day of an Sd.Kfz.251 pulling an 88mm. The trailers came from the factory, but they aren't always consistent in shape and configuration, and again, there are so few photos. Frenchy, I think that's your cue, LOL!

Yup. I have seen a photo (some book I own I think) of the wheels (actually the sonderanhänger) for an 88 mm Flak (Sd.Ah 202 ????) being towed behind some truck or smaller halftrack carrying personell. The gun isn't there, just the two axles/trolleys connected together with soldiers sitting whereever they can. I think it was from one of the many retreats of the southeast front. / Robin
