Back in March, I was sent an update by Tristar that they were producing a Panzer IV/70 (A) in 1/35th scale. Since then, very little. Until now...

The NEW Release is:

35048 - Panzer IV/70 (A) Sd.Kfz. 162/1

The NEW kit will come on 20 sprues, will include metal wire mesh for the Schürzen, include 2 sheets of photoetch and the decals are from Cartograf. There will be a bonus figure set (35005) with the first release.

35005 - Panzer Grenadiers Vol. 2

At the side the first images of the sprues and the instructions.

My hope is that this means the RACE IS ON to release a LATE J.

Lo and behold... after I post this Dragon announces their Late J... kinda hope Tristar might do one, too.

I don't really care for this particular model, but it's really great to finally see a new release from Tristar

Tristars Pnz IV are great builds, they are a little bit more complexed than DML's . Great detail, the running gear is second to none. DML steals it on the fenders and Tristar's hull is a flat plate con-fig which needs extra care. If you haven't built a Tristar Pnz IV go for it, they are a real good "Modellers Model" You build it almost like the real vehicle was built. I'm looking forward to getting this kit and DML's Pnz IV aust J. I think that Tristar and DML make great kits of the Pnz IV well worth trying your hand at both.

Definately ... my favourite. They are at least as good as Dragon in quality. I prefer them over Dragon as the details are usually much finer and the finished builds are superb. Anybody who used building, should have no real problems. They are a bit more "delicate" so maybe a bit more care is needed with small details. But its these small and delicate details that win it for me, as the need for extra PE is un-necessary.

Just read that the kit has a couple of mistakes (from dishmodels.ru forum)

Hmmm.. I couldn't honestly say that I enjoyed building Tristar's Panzer IV Ausf.B. This may have been one of their early kits, but does this kit use any of the old stuff? The other factor being that Dragon have since re-released their version of this vehicle in their Orange Box series with a very attractive price.
