great model,
for the MCD´s "golden" surface, echelon finedetails does a nice improvement set... here´s a link: LINK
and I think, that the cal50 ammo box cradle is wrong... I´ve seen tamiya´s cal50 ammobox on many M1 kits, but I´ve never seen that on the real thing...
though great model

Good catch, I missed that. You are correct. That is the wrong .50 cal ammo box holder far an M1. The correct style is below.

One thing I noticed is the fuel cans, the caps on them look wrong. And they should be a brown color
ANd isn't it a moot point to even have fuel cans on an Abrams with the gallons per mile it gets?

The Fuel cans are correct, sort of. They are metal fuel cans, which have pretty much been replaced by plastic ones. I guess the USMC could still have metal ones, they are usually the last ones to get new gear. They are correct in green as well. The sand-colored jerry cans are plastic water jugs. A couple fuel cans are carried on Abrams and are usually used to refuel the APU.

It looks a different color due to the camera angle, reflection off the sky, or something. The glass is a golden color, no doubt about it..

Thanks all for the comments.
Regarding the MCD, strangely, the camera I used does make the MCD look like the hull color, indeed.
I followed Tamiya's recommendation to use X-31 Titanium Gold; I then added Future as an overcoat. I guess it would have been better to add more Gold into it.
Here are a couple of pix (from a celphone camera) that give a different result:
I realized my error of using the cal.50 ammo tray from Tamiya's Modern Accessories after the model has been completed. I also discovered recently that I had placed the bushguards incorrectly.
My hearftfelt thanks to Armorama in allowing my work to be featured.
