Thanks guys for the kind words and thanks to Vinnie for placing this up despite my little boo boo. This is the Tamiya Challenger 2. The only AM part i added are the PE engine grills by Tamiya as well. The tarp / canvas roll was molded using epoxy putty. Yeah i noticed that too when i looked at the photos. Not sure what happened there but i definitely didnt gloss coat the figures. What you see there is the straight application of acrylic paint. Could be due to the lighting as well i guess. Its by Tamiya. An outstanding kit IMHO.

What paint (and colours) did you use for the main coat? I can never seem to get the yellowy sand color right. Nice build too! Well done

very nice.. hi there, what's the purpose of the wrap around canvas-tarp around the hull? did the the british used this on their sherman during the north africa campaign ? thanks for sharing. ed

The British Desert net is more of a fine mesh and can either be stowed wrapped around the lower hull ( so it won't block or hinder vision and turret traverse) or wrapped in a protective cover for keeping clean and protection. Nets in this lower position are easier to deploy. Each Regiment, squadron and troop has its own preference and SOP's. Sometimes a standard style net is used and has middle eastern colored scrim attached to it and covered and stowed in the same locations. These nets are not usually carried in this location in Europe as they tend to get shredded and filthy when moving through the undergrowth or forrested/built up areas. Keith.
