The first model I remember building was a glow-in-the-dark P-38, running around my bedroom in the dark flying it, and stubbing my toes. I do a lot less running around with glowing models now. I mainly focus on 1/35 armor and figures, with Modern Russian military vehicles being my favorite. I a...

Looks great! I have built the Italeri BMP-1 when I was a kid, and looks very similar to this... is it the same than the Italeri one?

The Italeri BMP is the Dragon kit (now Zvezda). The Esci kit is unique, but was cut by the same mold maker (or so the story goes). The Esci kit is better than the Dragon kit in many ways. Both manufacturers made both a -1 and -2. The third BMP was made by Lindberg and is a fairly poor kit.

Thanks for the comments. I thought I left a message in here, but I don't see it... Anyhow, Rob has it right. The DML kit and the Esci/ERTL/AMT kits are very similar, but the DML is, IMHO, the harder one to deal with. The AMT kit does not have gimmicky hatches or partially open periscopes. The AMT kit also is a somewhat easier build overall due to parts fit...I am not sure why as many of the parts of both kits are interchangeable, lending credence to the rumor that the mols were cut by the same company. Both companies BMP-2's are incorrect mainly in their upper hull configuration, being based on slightly altered BMP-1 hulls instead of making correct upper hulls. And Rob, don't forget the Trumpeter BMP-1 (It is pretty horrible, worse than the Lindberg kit).
