Help me!

A great dio, the figures are excellent, particularly the medic (though where are the red X's on his helmet?). Also nice to see a 251 done well and in 'ambulance colours', is this the Tamiya kit? the groundwork is also very good but if im honest, I don't like the way the 251's front wheels are hanging in mid air, i'd like to have seen a bigger base that would have fitted the entire half track on. Although I presume this is what you mean by 'breaking the rules of diorama building' and I can't knock you for trying. Overall a great little scene, well done, James

I agree with James. A great dio for a great subject. I too dislike the model hanging over the dio base though. To me, they always look like they weren't planned out well and the base was too small. I prefer a bigger base that fits the whole vehicle and a little area around it. To each their own though. Good job on it.

I liked the setting of the half track, myself. I thought the wheels hanging over the side of the base added a bit of drama to the dio. Nice work on the figures and ground work. The column behind is also very clever. Great job over all. Ironmike

I like the way you broke the rules on this. It gives it a dramatic feel to it which sets up for a good medic scene. I guess the building rules are more like guidelines.

I like it very much. Every diorama tells a story and if bending the rules tells it better, then good on you for doing it. From an artistic point of view, the composition reduces the scene to it's barest elements; the trusted ambulance, the medic and his charges, and a liitle bit of ground on which the whole drama unfolds. To me, the hanging wheels are a metaphor for life teetering on the edge and the column is the legacy of history looming over everything reminding us how moments like this have been played out in countless conflicts and battles over endless itme. I think it is a bit much on such a small base - if you have a space problem, perhaps 1/48 or 1/72? The idea works well, and the pillar behind is a good addition. Would a driver for the 251 be a more likely TO? or maybe they didn't have any to spare. I think they sometimes used red cross flags on poles.

I like it how it is. There was alot put into it and I think it was pulled off very well. I just looked at it for the third time and noticed what looks to be a body under the tracks; it is probably shapes screwing with my mind, but if you look for it you can see it! Hahaha. I think it is an interesting subject and execution. Cheers, -Mike

Very nice dio! I remember this one well. "Break any of these rules in order to clearly present the concept or idea to the viewer" This is the last of the 'Rules' taught to draftsmen and illustrators when I was in school. cheers!
