Orders - France 1944
by Keith Magee

This is one of the largest dioramas I have built, this scene measures 16" x 30", and took over 250 hours to build. It includes over 20 figures in 1:35 scale, four buildings each with full interior detail, and several scratch-built items. The scene depicts an early morning gathering shortly after (or possibly before) renewed heavy combat in a small Belgian-border French town during the Autumn of 1944. An officer, enjoying a soda and holding a German Staff HQ field flag is exhorting his variety of assembled men to prepare for more heated battle to come, while locals try to sort through the mess of their commercial district. Several wounded men are seen in the background, and the overall grouping represents a wide and disparate group of soldiers, from Werhmact infantry, panzer grenadiers, Waffen SS and even one of the Luftwaffe SS... showing how the Germans learned to "make do" in dire situations. Note the variety of colors, patterns, and styles of the dress from the various soldiers listening to the officer.

After a hiatus of several years following the sale of my hobby shop (Hobby Annex in Dallas, TX), I am ready to build again... I love dioramas, with a focus on WW2 and tend to spend a lot of time documenting my work... any questions, just let me know! - Keith
