Building a B1 Centauro
|
Conclusions |
It was quite a challenge to complete
this model but, all in all, it was a lot of fun too (if you enjoy
scratchbuilding and if you manage to control you anger). If you don't have
quite a lot of available documentation, it's not so easy to put it together
in a way which makes sense, and I think this is not the right model for the
beginners. In my view the value for money ratio is quite low and you can
expect quite a lot more for such an expensive model (130+ Euros/US Dollars),
not only for what I have already mentioned, but because half of the PE parts
had to be bend the other way round than normal (i.e. with the guide lines
not inside but outside and this is not stated on the instruction sheet) and
the most part of the other details (like the stowage boxes) are unusable
because they are almost impossible to be separated, without breaking them or
killing the detail, from the resin sprue.
The decal set coming with the kit is good for a first series, but, in my
view is much easier to turn a first series turret into a second series one
that converting the second series hull into a first series one.
I know that Italian Kits is working on an extensive update program of the
kit like new wheels, extra armour plates and the side moldings coming in PE,
so let's wait and see...
