I've Been Working on the Railroad

The most important part of this project is, with no doubt, the all steel train wheels, used to make the jeep able to road over the tracks. I started searching on my spare parts something that look like with a train wheels and I found trucks wheels from an old Revell kit of the M35. I'm not sure, but I think its scale was something like 1/40th. With these wheels on hand I started the surgery, first I sanded the outer ring surface until I got them flat. Next I used Cianocrilato type glue to cement the point of a solder wire to the outer-ring back end, this way I could simulate the guide for the train wheels, moving and gluing towards the outer-ring until completing the entire wheel circumference. After waiting for it to dry, I put another coat of Cianocrilato glue and sanded it off, then I puttied it using Squadron Green Putty and sanded it until I was satisfied with the results. I made this operation on all 4 wheels simultaneously. As the new wheels are thinner then the originals, I had to pick the inner-center of the wheels and make it look like the brake drums.
