Hetzer Mittlere Produttion

The model is the 1/35 Hetzer from Tamiya. The model was built Out of the box, and I used the link and length tracks instead of the rubber tracks. The only additions to the construction process was to stiple the front and sides of the Hetzer with Tamiya Extra Thin Cement, before sanding it down a little. I then put on a base coat of Tamiya acrylic Dark Yellow. The airbrush pattern was then airbrushed on freehand, to give a "soft-edged" camouflaged pattern. I airbrushed Green followed by Brown.

After the decals were put on, it was then given a very subtle post-shading of a earth brown colour. This was done on the edges of the panels. The weathering process was started by a pin point wash and also dirt streaks with Raw Umber oil paint. Next, I did chipping using Vallejo acrylics. The process was then completed by dusting the lower hull with different colour of pigments. This was likewise done to the rear side of the model, and more sparingly on the top. The rust on the exhaust was also done using pigments.

Ooo, nice contrast to my beat-to-hell early version. And consecutive numbers no less, LOL! Well done!

Really nice! I have the Italeri kit but now I'm thinking a Tamiya is the way to go after seeing this. I especially like the road wheels the way they turned out. Not too much at all on the mud.

Very nice indeed! Great weathering job. I agree, not too little, not too much, just right.
