Asociacion Modelista Torrent 2013

  • move
Torrent is part of the metropolitan area of the city of Valencia, Spain. It is home to the Asociacion Modelista Torrent (AMT). On the 5, 6 and 7 of April, AMT celebrated its 19th modelling contest.

Being the best contest in Spain and one of Europe’s outstanding shows, it has a great number of categories, from military vehicles to science fiction.

This year I had the honour of being on the jury for 1:72 scale models, and had the great satisfaction, being a 1:72 scale modeller, that this was the first time that the standard of entries in this scale has been better than the 1:35 scale entrants. Congratulations to all the braille scale modellers.

Here are some photographs of the models. I hope you enjoy looking through them.

Just to make clear, there were other scale and subject categories at that contest, but this report only covers 1/72 military vehicles. It's all part of a conspiracy, I think... (...sound of evil laughter...)

Dora is the BEST OF SHOW

I live in Valencia and went to see the Torrente show. When I came by the Dora, at first glance I was sure it was 1:35. I couldn´t believe how big this thing was when I noticed those microscopic 1:72 dwarfs hovering around it. I also remember I thought that the US guy with the sandbag-protected AA machine gun close to the downed Zero in the penultimate pic would be in trouble with high tide because the wing of the plane had already been buried. His sergeant should kick his ass.

Indeed these are true works of art! I’m happy to see that Braille scale builds are taken very seriously over in Europe. Here’s hoping the Western world will stand just as strong in support of this itty-bitty scale. Thanks Pedro, for posting these fine mini masterpieces. ~ Eddy
