Wheels, tracks and mother nature
Tracks used were the excellent Modelkasten set, which actually don’t take that long to assemble. These were base coated with Tamiya dark Gray and left to dry. I then take an old container and mix up some Mig powders, [Gulf war sand/ Europe dust] with Tamiya thinners and apply this to both sides of the track with a flat brush. Obviously the more powders you add the thicker the consistency, practice first to achieve the correct ratio. I usually speed up the drying process here with an old hairdryer. To metalize the contact areas ;ie the track faces/guide horns and areas rubbed by the wheels, I grind some graphite from an artist’s pencil to a powder and apply this with the finger. Wheels are masked accordingly and painted and weathered in exactly the same way as the rest of the vehicle. The wheels and the tracks are then fitted to the vehicle.
