Bosnia in the 90's

  • move
Jacob Hederstierna-Johnsen shares with us some of his pictures from his service in Bosnia during the 1990's. Jacob hopes this will give some of his fellow modellers inspiration for some future works. The US armor is from Camp McGovern in Brcko in the North of Bosnia, winter 96'/97'. All of the wrecked T-55's, T-34's, etc, are from the area of Doboj, which is located in mid-Bosnia. The T-55's, BMP's, etc, which are parked neatly in garages are from a Serbian site in the town of Derventa about 40 KM north of Doboj. All of the NATO/Danish vehicles (Leopards, M113's, etc, are from various patrols in the Doboj area.

Cool photos Jacob. What's that sitting on the T55 chassis in the second row of pictures?

Assuming we're looking at the same thing, it's a ZSU-57-2. Erik

What is the 6th picture ?It looks anti aircraft but I don't know what kind. And do many countries use them or is it just left over from world war 2. From European war. Happy modeling

Assuming we're looking at the same thing, it's a ZSU-57-2. Erik[/quote] And it's not on a T-55 chassis. If you note, it has 4 road wheels and not the 5 of the T-55. The ZSU-57-2 hull design is based on the T-54 hull design, but not made from T-54 hulls. It's armour was thinner, the weight greatly reduced leading to the need for only 4 road wheels per side. In short, it's completely new. HTH Paul

Ah, good call Paul. I just saw the last road wheel and thought T55. Didn't even notice the missing wheel, thanks.

Glad you all liked the Pictures. These Guys, the former Jugoslavs, didn't throw anything away. I've seen old German WWII stuff like the Le. 18 10,5 cm. field gun, MG 34, MG 42, P 38 and MP 40, all with the Nazi stamps on them. We also found an old Russian PPsh 41. The only real Down side to all this was that we had to destroy all these goodies Jacob
