Michael Wittmann

Armorama has a host of fantastic modellers that send in images of their finished builds and dioramas to be turned into features. The Publisher felt it was about time we highlighted the flesh and blood that brings life to these machines of war. This is the first of what I hope will become a regular appearance of figures on the site, and who better to start with than Michael Wittmann.

This Michael Wittmann figure is the Alpine Miniature offering in 1/35th scale and has been painted by VK Thai. The figure was primed with Mr Hobby primer and painted with Vallejo Acrylic Model Colors. Here is a little information on VK Thai;

I'm a 32 years old Vietnamese guy who is living in Slovakia. This is my latest figures which is the result of 7 months of self-learning and practicing. I used to do modelling when I was a child but I stopped completely after I went to college.

I think you will join me in congratulating him on his efforts with this figure model of Michael Wittmann, and I rather like the base it has been displayed on as well.

Outstanding painting. Looks as good as a 1/16 scale guy. J

Really nice job ! The leather effect is really well done, and the base is quite convincing too. I really like it. That's quite a good news that Armorama is willing to make more features on figures. Although I would suggest that the photos on the feature should be in a better resolution and in a bigger frame.

Hi VK ... Excellent work .. The face and leather are great. One thing I noticed and it is a tiny detail is the piping for panzer crews was pink and should be on the officers cap as well as the shoulder boards .. The rest looks awesome . I too wish we could click on the pictures to see them in full screen .. on all news and photo features .. Rick

Wittmann was in the SS division "leibstandarte Adolf Hitler" or LSSAH. SS panzer crews didn't have pink piping on their uniforms, the Heer did though.

Hi Jason .. the SS had the pink piping for their panzer crews same as the Heer . A quick google search of both SS panzer uniforms and head gear will show the shoulder boards and officers crush caps with pink piping. LINK LINK Rick
