St-Chamond the Model

Richard Craig shares with us some images of his finished Takom St-Chamond in 1/35th scale. This is the model that was completed in a Blog on Armorama and was supplied by Takom via Armorama.

The camouflage scheme was taken from the Ground Power number 29 on the St-Chamond. All of the painting was done with Tamiya paints except for the black outline which was hand painted using Vallejo's Black-gray. Weathering was done using, AK and Mig washes and filters. Some oil paint for streaking rain marks and lots of different pigments to vary the mud and dirt.

Looks really nice. I invented a few new swear words doing the suspension on mine. How are the tracks to assemble? I gave the instructions for them a quick look late the other night and they seemed a bit confusing. Figured I'd try this weekend.

Thanks for all the kind words ... First I forgot to mention that these pictures were taken by my friend Sylvain Couture. A great modeller in his own right and not a bad photographer if I do say so myself. Thanks again for taking the time to do this for me . Jason... Well the tracks took me a couple of minutes to figure out .. I ended up doing them like as if I were putting together a bicycle chain and then gluing the track pad to each link .. You need to squeeze the front of the tack in under the one in front of it... Getting the last one connected was challenging but take your time ..it is doable.. If you read my blog I do agree that the suspension is interesting to build and there is not much to do but hope all lines up in the end..lol I do hope in the future they make joins a little more precise .. In the end it all comes together ..trust me ... . Rick

That is a fantastic model and stunningly realistic. The camo looks spot-on and as someone else said, it looks dirty without that effect being overdone. I picked up the Sparta resin St. Chamond in 1/35 at Euromilitaire a couple of years back .... of course no-one was ever going to release one in plastic in a million years were they?! Ah well. - Steve
