Command and Control
Italeri got a little creative with the main console for the LCM3 kit; namely I haven’t found a single image of a WW2 LCM console that looks like the one the kit comes with as a decal! Eduard, ever helpful, doesn’t correct this. They just offer a photo etch and film version of the make-believe Italeri version! The only actual image of an LCM3 console I was able to find looks like this: Note that the clutch and throttle control levers are angled, not straight as they are in the kit. The instrumentation is also completely different, and there is a third level on the left side for the ramp clutch control. All of this was scratch built using sheet styrene and, entertainingly enough, leftover archer transfers control dial film from my Dragon Wagon build. The magnetic compass was also scratch built and added to the conning tower on the Eduard mount.Comments

Just some awsome work Jason. I love large dio's and this is one fantastic one you have created. Ending up with the Trump kit when my L.H.S. closed, I see I have some work to do on her. This will be of great help when it does get on the bench. Thanks for sharing the info and the adventure with us. bob d.

Maybe I'm daft but the photos in the linked article all show a tank being constructed. The solo photos of the diorama are great but methinks the 9 page written description has photos of a tank!
Am I just working on a possessed computer?

I can't even place the running gear of the tank...
But yes the build appears to have mixed up pictures.

The tank looks to be one of the Bronco models of the British Cruiser tank.
