Dave, Awesome work! I want to try 1/16th scale when I get to this level of quality with my 1/35th builds! I'm on Oahu, are you an IPMS battleship row member?

Thanks guys! it wasn't an easy build! no bill, Im not a an IPMS member but I should be. Sadly, this is my last model due to my eyes and lack of space. do you do armor models- if so, we should meet up, have a mai tai and chat. my style isn't for everyone but we still would have something to talk about.

Wonderful build! Could you tell us a little about the cost of on of these 1/16th scale kits? Also what are the dimensions of a kit like this. One thing is for sure there is no excuse for not putting in every detail of weathering, chipping, rust, and mud. A new challenge for all modelers! Thanks for sharing and well done build.

hi dave - the kit cost me $230 but it can had for around $200 now. It is 15 inches long (18 counting the barrel) and eight inches wide and six inches high. Includes complete interior with engine. the driver's area is a bit sparse so I have the hull closed up. It was a rather difficult build - took me 5 months! the main issue is the there are so many sprues and they are so big and it takes a lot of time simply finding the part you need. I listed the problems with the kit over on missing lynx and I can email the list to you if you would like.

Terrific job Dave, I really like what you have done with this kit. It really looks the business. Sorry to read that you are giving up the hobby, albeit apparently not through choice. Such a shame because you are clearly very talented and I'd like to think you might "do a Frank Sinatra" on us and return with a "comeback" build to knock us all out with at a later date. Never say never! - Steve

danke Steve - I appreciate the kind words. Now, if Trumpeter were to do a panzer III in 1/16 I might reconsider! : )

So we will pray for Trumpeter make a Panzer III NOW!!! And thank you for allow us to see a astounding model like this!

Thanks Ed - or I could just start scratch building one and like magic, some company will immediately make one! isn't that the way it usually goes?

great work, a true treat for the eyes. 1 question what did you use for the zimmerit? was it an overlay or custom? i am looking to do a conversion to a r/c 1/16 pzkpfw Iv i own, and am looking for ideas/suggestions.

Dawg, I used atak zimmerit. They make a set for any 1/16 scale kit and one for this particular kit as well. I used the standard set and cut my own pieces to fit. Tedious but it worked out in the end.
