1⁄35Building a Diorama from Scratch
Continue cutting out the side elevations of the building. Test fit them for a smooth corner, and then glue them together with white glue. Do NOT use any form of glue that doesn’t specifically state it is “safe for use with foamboard ”. I prefer a common brand called “FoamTastic™” which is specially formulated to bond well with Styrofoam. (1.10). Welding-agent glues, (ie, model glue”) and cyano-based glues (such as “Superglue™”) will melt and dissolve the Styrofoam center of the matt board, rendering your work to this point a total waste! Apply the white glue to all areas to be joined (photo 1. 11), then using “T- pins” (photo 1. 12) fit the corners together and allow everything to set overnight. While you may feel the glue is dry in just a few hours, it is best to let white glue fully cure and harden overnight before working any further on the project. If the glue is fully cured, you should be able to quickly and easily pull out the T-Pins without distorting the joined edges.
