AMX30 EBD-2

  • move
As already mentioned Joseph used the Meng Model 1/35th scale offering of the AMX-30 B for this build. He replaced the tracks from Meng Models with Friul Model metal tracks. The wheels were enhanced by using resin nuts and bolts to improve the detail and the suspension is fully workable. Resin butterfly locking nut detail has been used where needed to improve areas such as door latches. Joseph has also added a fair amount of scratched metal work to the model by utilising frets from photo etched sets, on the side of larger items the PSP ground plates have been made from shaped aluminium. The optics for the model have been made by using coloured resin which is all Joseph’s own work. The KMT-5 mine plow is a resin offering and has some great features such as rotating wheels, articulating arms and detachable cable. The model has been painted with Humbrol paints and weathered with pastels and pigments.

By the way it is just a AMX30 EBD (no 2). EBD means engin blindé de déminage which translates into Mine Clearing Armored Vehicle. It was an improvised solution to the mine threat during GW1. Right after the war, a dedicated variant was designed. Based on a AMX30 B2 hull, it still is in service with the French engineers.

Olivier I also noticed the error EBD-2, which does not come from me and I do not know why the 2 was! This is certainly a mistake to the editor.
