Thank you Fred and thank you for posting these. I took these back around 2006 I believe. The howitzer sits outside of the courthouse building there. It is a very small town, population of around 1,700, and so it is odd to me that this large howitzer ended up there. Like with a lot of my pictures back in those days, all I did for a camera was buy the disposable ones. So, the pictures aren’t as good as I would like them to be.
Hopefully some of our French speaking members wouldn't mind translating the wording in a couple of the pictures.

The German army in North Africa (among other places) used these guns to good effect with many then being recaptured by the Allied forces there.

First wording means "a well maintained gun is worth two guns"
Second means "take care of my (recoil) brakes "
