Mk1 in the Field

This is Conrad Chapman's (Chris Chapman’s 11 year old son) completed 1/72nd scale Mk1 model tank by Airfix. The project began about a year ago and through continual encouragement from me he went from construction, through the tricky hand painted camo painting to finally weathering and building the diorama base. After many months of intermittent progress he completed this in time for Amorcon 2016 where he was rewarded for his perseverance and effort with the best junior award.

I feel looking at this effort by Conrad that the hobby is in safe hands and has a future with offerings of this quality from young upcoming modellers.

That award is certainly well deserved! When you consider the small scale of the tank and the small fingers building/painting it, the result is exceptional. Great job, Conrad!!

Thanks for all the kind words guys! It really made Conrad's day to see his model featured this way and get all the positive feedback. Hopefully we both with have something new to show at this year's AMPs Nationals, just down the road from us in Danbury, CT. Chris

Great job! I remember seeing this dio in person at Armorcon. What I remember the most was the well-executed rough, churned-up, uneven terrain of the battlefield. Well done, young sir! Chris

Nice stuff, I really like the Mk I's for their naval-gun barrels. Must have been exciting keeping them unplugged with mud after going through a trench or shell hole!
