RG-31 Mk3

This is a RG-31 Mk3 variant of the US armed forces. The kit is Kinetic, 1/35, and as most Kinetic kits it has its ups and downs (sinkholes, bad wheels made from some weird rubber... just to name a few), but in the end turned out an enjoyable build. I`m setting my sights on the mk5 variant...

I changed the wheels for the lovely DEF wheels, made some electronic ECM/anti IED gear (monitor, SINCGARS unit, DUKE unit), made the DUKE antenna, used Live Resin SINCGARS antenna mounts, replaced the (horribly bad moulded) M2 .50 cal for the Live Resin one and made the mount for it plus holder for the ammo box, added some rucksacks, various brake lines and hydraulic lines, added Tamiya tape seat belts, anti slip coating, Broncos LED flood lights and hydraulic system for opening the roof hatches.

The windows were painted on the inside with clear color, I am not 100% satisfied but hey... they do have the sinkmarks so I couldn't get it perfect. Everything was painted with a mix of Gunze aqueous color, filtered with oils, washed with a OIF brown, some chips added (mostly on the front bumper and the turret), dusted and speckled. The base is simple as I`m toying with an idea for it, but it will have to wait a bit.

For a modeller, I am not that patient sometimes... I primarily build WWII 1:48 prop planes and 1:35 tanks but I have been known to tackle moderns stuff once in a while...

So impressive, Matija! I would like to know more about how you painted the brush guards on the headlights and signal lights while still getting the lights to look so good.

Thank you It's nothing fancy, the brush guards were painted seperately and then attached. The lights were painted with clear paints

I didn't like RG-31 Mk3 at all. I thought it had a little bit strange silhouette, not so mighty as a real MRAP should have. But after seeing some models of it I've changed my mind. There are some excellent galleries of this vehicle's models in the web and this one has very big chances for the first place among of them. Great build, congrats

It's just a great work! I am building this model myself, and I looked at a lot of such machines on the Internet. Your work is really one of the best. Unfortunately, my build showed a defect in this set (and not only for me alone). The fact is that over time, from the loopholes on the windows appear radial cracks. Also I see, you made the wiring on the bottom. Did you use any reference materials? If so, could you help me with this?

Thank you for the comments! Sorry to hear that Dimitriy I used a WWP book on RG-31 i borrowed from a friend. I would have to see if i took a photo of the underside
