1⁄35Mk IV Tadpole

This is not quite an out of the box build of Takom's Mk.IV Tadpole as Gary has added better nut detail on the suspension, rebuilt the stowage box (and added stowage) as well as scratch building a replacement exhaust system completely from brass tube. The model has been painted in WW1 Battleship Grey - not the green Takom try to get you to use in their instructions! Gary couldn't find any information on a definitive grey so he used Tamiya XF82 which seems to be a reasonable match to Royal Navy Battleships of the day. The weathering was completed using oils and pigments. The tarpaulin stowage was made from scrap styrene and lead foil with the wicker case coming from Plus Models.

Very nice! Really appreciate the subtle colours and the limited rust treatment; another overdone weathering gimmick. All you need now is a suitable muddy shell-torn base and a couple of tired, mud-splattered PBI and you're set!

Very nicely done Gary. I like the subtle weathering but well worn use. Excellent job on the tracks.

Beautiful build Gary, that weathering is very nice, very appropriate for a test tank.
